This page explains which personal data is processed at Jario, for what purpose and to whom it is passed on. There is no advertising, no tracking and no analytics tools.
1. Controller
Seweryn Krzysztof Korzekwa
Virginiastraße 14, 66482 Zweibrücken
Email: hello@jario.app
2. Hosting, server and email
The website runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, in a data center in Germany. Database backups are transferred in encrypted form and stored on Hetzner storage in Finland (EU). A data processing agreement is in place with Hetzner.
When you visit the site, the server processes your IP address, as technically necessary, in order to deliver the page. Requests are not logged. In the event of server errors, the requested address without parameters and the error message are stored in the server log. The log has a fixed maximum size; older entries are overwritten automatically. The legal basis is GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) (secure and stable operation).
My email inbox (hello@jario.app) and the sending of emails, such as the confirmation of a cancellation or withdrawal, are handled by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus (EU). This involves processing your email address, your name and the content of the email. The legal basis is GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).
3. Account and sign-in (Clerk)
For sign-in and accounts I use Clerk, Inc. (USA). This involves processing your email address, your name (if provided), the profile data transmitted by another service when you sign in through it (such as Google), and technical session data (IP address, browser). Clerk is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; a data processing agreement is in place with Clerk. The legal basis is GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) (contract for the use of the service).
4. Tasks, code and learning progress
I store which tasks you have solved, the code you last saved and your checked solution attempts with their results. When you run or check code, it is compiled and executed on my own server in an isolated environment; it does not leave the server in the process. The legal basis is GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).
5. AI tutor (Claude API by Anthropic)
When you ask the AI tutor a question, I send the task, your current code, the latest result, your question and the previous chat history for this task to Anthropic Ireland, Limited (Ireland). Your name and email address are not transmitted. Please therefore do not write any personal data in questions or code. Anthropic processes the data on my behalf, according to its own statements does not use it to train its models, and may also process it in the USA; EU standard contractual clauses apply to this. I store the chats in your account so that you can see them again later. The legal basis is GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).
6. Payment (Stripe)
You pay for the Pro subscription (€5/month) via Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, Dublin, Ireland. Stripe processes your email address, your name, your payment details and, where applicable, your billing address. I do not see your card or account details; I only learn whether and until when your subscription has been paid for. Stripe may also process data in the USA and is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is GDPR Art. 6(1)(b), and for the retention of invoices GDPR Art. 6(1)(c).
7. Cookies and local storage
I only set cookies that are technically necessary for sign-in (session cookies from Clerk), and I store your settings for light or dark mode and for autocompletion in the editor in your browser. No consent is required for this (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
8. Retention period
I store your account data, your progress and your tutor chats until you delete your account. You can do this at any time in the account settings; in doing so, I also delete your data held by me and your customer record at Stripe. Backups are overwritten after 30 days. I retain invoice and payment data for as long as required by tax and commercial law (up to ten years).
9. Your rights
You have the right to
- access to your stored data (GDPR Art. 15),
- rectification (GDPR Art. 16) and erasure (GDPR Art. 17),
- restriction of processing (GDPR Art. 18),
- data portability (GDPR Art. 20),
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 21).
To exercise these rights, simply send an email to hello@jario.app. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz) in Mainz.
10. Obligation to provide data
Without an email address you cannot create an account or work on the tasks. You can view the task list without an account.
